Over 60 Years of Humane Bird Control

The leading brand of humane bird control solutions worldwide, Bird-X has been dedicated to protecting human health, wildlife, and the environment in which we all live. Established in 1964, the Chicago-based company manufactures a complete line of unique pest control products with an unmatched focus on quality, efficacy and customer service.

Our Story

On January 17, 1964, Bird-X began a long and rewarding journey to becoming a leading supplier of humane bird control products. Bird-X started as a small idea, inspired by a Bird Lite that was being sold to deter birds from commercial areas. Founder Richard Seid started Bird-X with only a few products—a Bird Lite, a chemical bird repellent, and an ultrasonic bird repelled. At the time, no one in the world had anything like that in 1964. These products were revolutionary in the bird control industry.

In the beginning, Bird-X was a single-employee business that was entirely operated by Richard Seid. He handled all job descriptions, from President to shipping clerk to phone attendant. As the company grew, Bird-X added administrative help, followed by production oversight, sales and promotion, bookkeeping, and more. Bird-X spent the first 28 years selling innovative bird control products via trade publications. Readers responded to the advertisements in these publications and Bird-X sold bird control products directly to the end user.

In 1992, the son of the founder, Joe Seid, joined the family business as the company’s 10th employee and strategically expanded sales channels. This was the start of a major growth period for the company. Throughout years of a dedicated online presence combined with a knowledgeable team of bird control sales specialists, Bird-X became a time-tested leader in the bird control industry.

Now, Bird-X proudly supplies a growing line of over 400 humane bird control solutions used in over 60 countries around the world, with a seasoned staff —20% of which have been a part of the company for more than 25 years and have directly attributed to the tremendous growth and success.

Research and Product Development

We maintain an exceptionally strong commitment to new product development – putting the latest scientific discoveries, decades of innovative thinking, patented designs and state-of-the-art technology into each of our products.

After years of research and testing, we know that pest birds and other animals can be conditioned – using their most basic fears and survival instincts – to stay away from areas where a threat is perceived. Many of our solutions mimic that threat, while others create a physical barrier or an unfit habitat. From electronic devices, ultrasonic technology, bird spikes and netting, to organic compounds, visual scares, and more – each product repels pests naturally, providing long-term results.

We have proven that wildlife and pest populations can be repelled from unwanted areas humanely – where they are safe, and unable to cause harm.

Chicago's Wrigley Field

Case Study: Super BirdXPeller PRO at Wrigley Field

It isn’t only Cubs fans who love Wrigley Field. “Pigeons like to roost on the trusses that support the upper deck,” said Paul Rathje, director of stadium operations at Wrigley Field for the last six years. “This causes problems for the people seated below.” Besides the lure of roosting in the structural beams, the pigeons are naturally attracted to the food purchased by the crowds of fans who fill the stands – a bird’s delight; a stadium director’s horror.
